Separated at birth?
Who would have thunk it eh?
Celtic Football Club have only gone and apparently signed, none other than, the roadrunner!!
It seems that the poor wee thing is being victimised by big, bad Wyle E Coyote too…or at least the SFA anyway.
Former ref Kenny Clark has his say on the matter
It seems that even with their patented Acme football boots on the poor henchmen erm…officials – working for the aforementioned arch enemy can’t for the life of them keep up with the fella, never mind actually catch him.
For once in this jambo’s life, I actually feel sorry for Hibernian supporting (allegedly) referee Dougie MacDonald. He now goes into Sunday’s televised game knowing that he is in a no win situation. Picture the scene. 89 minutes on the clock…the score stands at 0-0 and the roadrunner goes down in the box…it’s a real 50/50 whether it’s a penalty or not. What does Dougie do? What CAN he do?
He waves play on and tells Mr R. Runner to get back on his feet….Celtic and their self-proclaimed “best fans in the world” are proved right. There IS an anti-Celtic conspiracy going on within the walls of Hampden…”See. We told ya!”.
He GIVES the penalty…Mr R.Runner steps up to win the match for Celtic and put them back in the title race. Rangers and THEIR fans then come out and say (possibly rightly) that poor Dougie was put under so much pressure by the Celtic “source” that he HAD to give Celtic a helping hand of some sort.
I can understand the Old Firm’s FANS making themselves heard and putting pressure on refs to give their sides penalties. And I can understand some of those refs being swayed by it…It’s being going on for far longer than I can remember and it ain’t gonna stop anytime soon. But for an actual football club, especially one the size of Celtic – who have benefitted in more than their fair share of “dodgy” decisions through the years – to come out and put pressure on the country’s officials is nothing short of a disgrace.
Aye very good Celtic. Just because Billy Conolly is a famous ‘Tic fan doesn’t mean that you lot have to join in the act.
