Heartsgirl here………
Yes, it CAN be done, in fact it must be done or else this blog will never get added to. It seems that snowy Scotland is back with a bang. In fact I’m not sure we shall ever see the back of this fluffy white stuff that seems so charming the first day or two and then turns into a nightmare.
Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy the strolls through the forest with the snow crunching under your feet and the sun glinting off the hoar frost. It is delightful. The slushy, grey mess that soaks your ankles 2 days later and the drivers who think they are on the famous “Snowman Rally” racing through the village are less impressive.
It’s great seeing the wee man dressed up in his snowsuit enjoying the frosty majesty of a winter’s morn, not so much fun trying to get him INTO 5 layers just to have him say he has to pee!
But we have had our good times. He has discovered how to build a snow shelter, how to track animals through the snow and thanks to his daddy, how to “PEE” the letters FTH into the first fresh snow of the year. Ah, youth (and in daddy’s case, stupidity…..just kidding youngy! x)
So wherever you are today, whatever you are doing, stay warm, drive safe and remember, it’s only another month until we can pretend spring is on the way!

2010
Well, it’s only mid week but I have been thinking about this weekend’s HMFC fixture for days!
Will it go ahead, is the first question. It’s been snowing all day up here (and is forecasted to continue) and whilst we are much closer to Inversneck than Sh*toddrie I am beginning to wonder. But hey, the SFA says we don’t need a winter shutdown so we’ll just have to take those idiots word for it.
The second concern I have is my absolutely burning desire to beat Mark “Vote of no confidence” McGhee and his clutch of rabble. I hate MM, I detest Scaberdeen supporters and their faux ultras and frankly I just hate Aberdeen all together. Beating them at the hill of dung would be lovely and let’s be honest, we sure do need the points!
The third thing on my mind is the watching of the game. As we don’t have a telly we have to journey to a much bigger place than our own wee village to view it. The trip usually goes a bit like this…….
We traipse into the family friendly pub with junior in tow. We get a table with a decent view of the screen and order food. Things are going swimmingly until drunken idiots who follow the other teams (usually Rankgers or Smeltic) show up and decide they prefer the view in the family area. They proceed to mouth off at various ref-ing decisions, start swearing like sailors and basically showing themselves up as people who have never even SEEN the inside of a stadium or even watched a proper game of football. I proceed to get livid about the same time that junior starts getting bored and Hearts lose a penalty or dodgy goal. By the end of the 90 mins I am ready for a god almighty scrap (all 8.5 stone of me) and youngy is virtually pulling me out the door by my collar. I vowed after the last game there I wouldn’t go again. But earlier this week Youngy asked me ever so nicely and I don’t feel I can say no. SO here we go again……….
And lastly, I am sick to the back teeth of being below the scum fae Leith in the table. Let me be clear here, I do NOT have a losers mentality and do not accept the mediocrity that we are right now. That is more of the Hobos style and I simply cannot allow myself to think like them. If I did I would have to stop brushing my teeth, find a big vein in my arm and go around with tool cut into my neddish haircut…….er, no thanks.
We MUST try harder, we MUST get goals and we MUST make up ground that we have lost. Aberdeen seems the place to work on this so we have to go and we have to win.
SO as you can see, I have been “dwelling” this week. Perhaps I need to take up knitting or stamp-collecting, something far less stressful than football!
It’s all change at the VFG blogsite folks. The colour okay…the colour change will have to wait due to display issues but it WILL get done, the content, the categories….everything. I have now even finally got round to officially closing the “Beat the Bullies” petition.
From now on the blog is just about….well stuff…any kind of stuff. Be it scottish football, be it the ins and outs of running the main VFG site, life in gerneral or, my personal favourite at the moment, spam emails and the absolute nonsense that they contain if you can be bothered to take the time to read them.
And it won’t just be myself that will be writing on all of life’s subjects either…
Hopefully it will be able to give you t’interwebby surfers a wee laugh from time to time too.
The Beat the Bullies blog IS dead…….long live the blog!!
